SUMMARY:HALEN JOE ECKMAN // A SUNKEN SHIP IRONY // EGOTRUCK
DESCRIPTION:On SATURDAY\, July 12th\, we have another great show at our venue\, B-Side Indie Music Cafe. Join us for an indie inspired evening with some local and MPLS artists & bands! \nDoors open at 5:30pm\, music starts at 6pm. Tickets are available at the link in the event or at our linktree in our bio! We have a limited capacity at our venue\, so make sure to buy a ticket if you want to attend! \nLet’s meet the artists! \nHALEN JOE ECKMAN // folk rock \nHalen Joe Eckman is a folk rock singer originally from Sebeka MN\, though he now resides in Maple Grove. He plays original songs that might appeal to fans of Michael Hurley and the Violent Femmes. His goofy (and sometimes irreverent) lyrics are accompanied by a guitar style influenced by folk\, blues\, and classic rock. Halen often says\, “I take not taking myself seriously… very seriously.” \nA SUNKEN SHIP IRONY // indie folk \nA Sunken Ship Irony began as a solo project by Josh Wirtanen in 2004 and has spent the past 20 years expanding and exploring with Josh’s closest friends. The band plays punk-inspired indie folk and often decorates their songs with synthesizers. They weave tales of sadness and the sea (and many\, many ghosts). Their song “Island of Misfit Toys” was featured in the 2009 film Friends with Benefits\, and they’ve been featured in countless other places as well. \nEGOTRUCK // punk \nEGOTRUCK is a 4-piece punk band from Minneapolis. We perform original punk songs with a twist of ska\, hardcore\, and country. \nProject 37 is a non-profit with a mission to provide spaces and opportunities for all ages to enjoy music in safe and sober environments. You can help us continue that goal by coming to shows\, following us on social media\, or telling people about what we do. \nThis activity is made possible by the voters of Minnesota through grants from the Minnesota State Arts Board\, thanks to a legislative appropriation from the arts and cultural heritage fund.

SUMMARY:MARY JAM // SON/BOY // OWL // SLIME MONSTERS FROM OUTER SPACE
DESCRIPTION:On SATURDAY\, June 28th\, we’re hosting a PUNK NIGHT at our new venue! Join us for a great night of local artists sharing their music. \nThis is a ticketed event. Buy your ticket ahead of time to ensure you can attend our very first show at B-Side! We do have a limited capacity. Based on ticket availability\, tickets may not be available to buy at doors. Doors open at 5:30PM\, music starts at 6:00PM. \nThis is an all-ages and SOBER event. B-Side Cafe will be serving special drinks for the event. \nLet’s meet the artists! \nOWL // alt rock \nOWL\, the sensational trio from Grand Forks\, ND\, is making waves across the Midwest! Meet the musical maestros: Bambrick (11 years old\, lead vocals and bass)\, Oliver (13 years old\, guitar and backup vocals)\, and James (15 years old\, drums). Since their epic debut in 2023\, these brothers have been tearing up the local music scene with their electrifying performances. From rocking out at top spots like the Empire Arts Center\, Dogmahal\, and Parachigo\, to throwing down at music festivals\, OWL brings a mix of alternative rock\, classic rock\, and metal covers\, sprinkled with their own original tunes. Their vibe? Pure\, unadulterated rock and roll magic! \nSON/BOY // post punk indie \nSon/Boy is an original post-punk\, indie rock band with an emo flair. They come from Minneapolis\, and pride themselves on having a fast\, exciting flavor at their shows. With members Austin\, Daniel\, Ken\, and Phil\, there’s not a dull moment once they step foot on stage. \nSLIME MONSTERS FROM OUTER SPACE // garage punk \nSlime Monsters from Outer Space are Minneapolis’s sludgiest interstellar agitators\, hurling garage-punk chaos and Marxist manifestos through a wall of distortion. Composed of Lucky (vox/guitar)\, Brian (guitar)\, Phoenix (bass)\, and Ryan (drums)\, this quartet soundtracks the class war with riffs thicker than the nastiest goo and rhythms that hit like a proletariat uprising. Their original songs fuse gnarly garage-sludge with lyrics ripped straight from a radicalized B-movie—think UFO invasions soundtracking dialectical materialism\, or communist anthems delivered by tentacled overlords. Equal parts mosh pit frenzy and ideological fever dream\, their live shows leave crowds drenched in sweat\, beer\, and fury. Hailing from the smoldering remains of Minneapolis\, Slime Monsters from Outer Space are here to melt you with our sonic weapons of doom and leave you shrieking for more. \nMARY JAM // DIY punk \nSpirited garage rock outfit\, Mary Jam\, combines elements of DIY Punk\, Surf Rock\, and Grunge to create a blistering sound that will stick to you like day old chewing gum. Drummer Katy Fenasci\, and guitar player and vocalist Alli KB have an intimate musical relationship that spans the greater part of five years\, and culminated in the creation of Mary Jam after COVID-19 forced the pair into a year-long musical hiatus. Mary Jam describes their music as the theoretical result of a threesome between Dick Dale\, Nirvana\, and FIDLAR. The band also makes bold lyrical declarations in their music\, sometimes singing about beer and surfing\, and other times lamenting the over-militarization of police. Regardless of the topic\, Mary Jam performs with enough grit and desperation to get even the weariest of punks out of their booth and onto the dance floor. To date Mary Jam has released four singles\, and two rancorous EPs. The band’s most recent EP\, “Flowers for Algernon\,” showcase their playful songwriting and witty lyricism making them ready to become Garage Rock anthems that any uncoordinated 20-something can relate to. Mary Jam has been playing a barrage of uproarious shows across the Midwest\, and has no plans of stopping. They are releasing their 3rd EP in June. Catch them playing new tunes soon at a dive bar near you. \nProject 37 is a non-profit with a mission to provide spaces and opportunities for all ages to enjoy music in safe and sober environments. You can help us continue that goal by coming to shows\, following us on social media\, or telling people about what we do. \nThis activity is made possible by the voters of Minnesota through grants from the Minnesota State Arts Board and the Central MN Arts Board\, thanks to a legislative appropriation from the arts and cultural heritage fund.

SUMMARY:COAX // KALOPSYA // THE SUNFLOWER BURIAL // VVAKEFIELD
DESCRIPTION:On FRIDAY\, June 20th\, we’re hosting another show at Underground Music Cafe in Minneapolis! We had a great time back a few months ago\, and we’re excited to host another cities show! \nThis show has a $10 cover and is all ages. Every dollar that comes into Project 37 goes directly back into making more shows just like this one happen. \nDoors open at 6PM\, music starts at 6:30PM. \nLet’s meet the artists! \nCOAX // alt rock \nFeatured performing live on KVSC’s “Monday Night Live” and “Afternoon Alternative Rock” shows. Performing at various festivals and clubs around Minnesota \nKALOPSYA // melodic metal \nSMALL-TOWN LADS… \nBIG METAL CHADS! \nKalopsya is a melodic-metal band from St. Peter\, MN. With music consisting of catchy hooks\, melodic lead-guitar runs\, and harmonized guitar solos\, Kalopsya has quickly gained a following and has also become well-respected within the metal scene for being…well…just genuinely nice dudes! In late 2019 (just before the Great Plague swept the world)\, a great hunger was stirring within the bowels of St. Peter\, MN. In order to satiate this carnivorous desire\, members of HeirAfire\, Faulter\, and Alation congregated within a dank basement. From within this basement\, a pact was made to deliver the most melodious metal that Southern Minnesota has ever seen. The music of Kalopsya has been sweeping the greater Minnesota area for the past year…and they plan to sweep even LARGER swathes of land in the future! Upon first gathering\, Petey Peterson (rhythm guitar)\, Jared Kueker (bass guitar)\, Sawyer Lund (lead guitar)\, and Jordan Gay (original drummer) set out to re-ignite the local metal scene with their blend of melodic leads mixed with Death Metal / Metalcore inspired rhythms. Although it took a number of years to finally find a suitable vocalist for the project\, they welcomed Sam Blackman (vocalist) to the fold just in time to start recording their debut EP. Unfortunately\, shortly after finishing the recording\, original drummer\, Jordan\, parted ways with the band. It was at this time that the hunt for a new drummer began. After a solid year of searching\, they recruited local music student Bennett Weissner (current drummer) and were able to lock-down the lineup that everyone is familiar with today. \nTHE SUNFLOWER BURIAL // alt punk metal \nWe’re Nate\, Jack\, and Simon\, The Sunflower Burial. We formed in Fargo\, ND\, but grew up in South Dakota where Jack and I went to high school together. We have a lot of influences. Punk\, alternative metal\, indie rock\, and a bit of blues and shoegaze. We mainly do originals with a cover mixed in here and there. We’re all about mental health awareness. \nVVAKEFIELD // melodic hardcore \nVVakefield is a melodic hardcore band from MN. Uptempo metal-core with melodic groove blends into a volatile pressurized unit capable of forcing humans to losing their absolute marbles.
