Let’s meet the performers!
Paul Imholte // Folk
Folk musician Paul Imholte performs traditional and original music on nearly a dozen string instruments. His music reflects Midwest themes of farms, small towns, and people that make their living on the land. For twenty-five years, Paul was a member of the St. Cloud based band Ring of Kerry. Currently, he performs with the trio Ruckus in the Bearbrush. Paul has released twelve CDs of his music.
Emma Cotton // Folk
Emma is a folk musician who founded and plays with the local Appalachian Mountain band, Ruckus in the Bearbrush. She has also spent the last 6 years playing with the Irish band, Ring of Kerry. Emma enjoys learning instruments and new genres of music. She currently plays 12 instruments and is learning guitar, mandolin, and fiddle. When not deep diving into songwriting or learning music and instruments, she enjoys rescuing cats, reading historical nonfiction, and whipping up new recipes.
Paul Cotton // Folk
Paul Cotton is primarily a percussionist having played trap set for over 60 years in various bands and styles. He has added several other percussion instruments throughout the years. Some of these include: bodhrán, djembe, doumbek, congas, tabla, bongos, spoons, various shakers and frame drums. On most of these, he has 20 or more years of experience. He also plays some penneywhistle and guitar. He has been the founder and leader — or an original organizer — of several musical groups; the most resent being the Irish music band, Ring of Kerry. With that band he recorded, co-produced and co-mixed 5 CDs.
Jeff Wood // Americana
A guitarist, singer and harmonica player, Jeff Wood performs Americana covers and originals. His most recent compositions are “We Are Who We Are” and “Get Out on the Gravel.” The former is an homage to Minnesota. The latter offers a vaccine against doomscrolling and the 24-hour news cycle.
Adrian Rainer // Folk
Adrian Rainer is a local folk musician with a focus on old-time and traditional music. Adrian’s primary instruments are guitar and banjo, and he currently performs with the Appalachian music trio Ruckus in the Bearbrush. When not playing guitar, he can be found reading, baking sourdough, or hanging out with his two cats.
Tim Fast // Folk
Tim Fast Singer Songwriter, a native Minnesotan, brings a unique blend of soulful storytelling and musical craftsmanship to the American folk scene. With fourteen songwriting awards to his name, Tim has become a celebrated figure across the country, sharing his passion for authentic, heartfelt music at venues and festivals nationwide. Drawing inspiration from legends like The Beatles, John Prine, Neil Young, James Taylor, and Steve Goodman – Tim Fast blends traditional folk roots with contemporary narratives, creating songs that resonate deeply with listeners of all backgrounds.
Mike Sharp // Folk
Mike Sharp has been playing music with local string band Cannery Row for over 20 years. In addition to that collaboration he has been adding his voice, drum, guitar and harmonicas to movements for social justice whenever he has the opportunity. From traditional tunes by people in the struggle to contemporary street and rally chants, he always invites folk into active participation in our work for change.
